The Health Ministry on October 3 sent a document to the People’s Committees of Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An and centrally-run provinces and cities to provide specific instructions on the testing and quarantine for people moving between risky areas.
According to the instructions, people who are not vaccinated at all or not fully vaccinated travelling from a high-risk or very high-risk area to other areas must quarantine for 14 days.
For travelers from a risky area to the equivalent area or new normal area, if they have received the full dose of COVID-19 vaccine or have recovered from the disease within six months, they are required to follow the 5K rules and limit their contacts for 14 days at home.
If they have not been vaccinated or have not had two shots, they will quarantine at home for seven days and self-monitor their health for the next 14 days. During the quarantine period, COVID-19 testing samples must be taken twice.
If people go from a low-risk area to a high-risk area, depending on the local situation, the local health department will provide specific instructions for quarantine and taking samples for testing if needed.
The Health Ministry’s document provides specific guidance on traveling between areas, helping people stuck during the recent pandemic return home.
