Vietnam administers nearly 50 million COVID-19 vaccine doses

Vietnam had administered nearly 50 million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 as of noon on October 7, according to data from the National Immunisation Portal.

As many as 1,167,626 doses of COVID-19 vaccines were administered on October 6, putting the total administered shots in Vietnam at nearly 50 million.

According to the Ministry of Health, as of October 5, the coverage rate of at least one dose of vaccine for the population aged 18 and over in the Northern region was 45.8%; the Central region, 42.6%; the Central Highlands, 15.4% and the South, 59.2%.

Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Long An and Binh Duong are six provinces and cities with coverage of at least one dose of vaccine for over 90% of the population aged 18 and above.

Three localities with coverage of at least one dose of vaccine for 80-90% of the population aged 18 and over include Lang Son, Da Nang, and Dong Nai.

Ha Nam, Bac Ninh, Yen Bai and Phu Yen are the four provinces with coverage of at least one dose of vaccine for 50-70% of the population aged 18 and over.

12 provinces and cities with coverage of at least one dose of a vaccine for 30-50% of the population aged 18 and over are Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Ha Tinh, Dien Bien, Ninh Thuan, Tien Giang, Tay Ninh, Can Tho, Dong Thap.

The remaining 38 provinces and cities have coverage of at least one dose of vaccine for 10-30% of the population aged 18 and over.

According to Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen, from now until the end of 2021, Vietnam will receive about 55 million more doses.
