COVID-19: New cases continue to drop on October 12

Vietnam recorded 2,949 new cases of COVID-19 on October 12, a drop of 678 cases compared to the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.

Among these new cases, 10 were imported.

HCM City recorded the highest number of infections with 1,018, followed by neighbouring Dong Nai province with 501 and Binh Duong province with 447.

The national tally now stands at 846,230.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 4,299 patients nationwide are in serious conditions, with 546 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support (ECMO).

On the day, the country saw 93 deaths from the disease. The death toll now hits 20,763 .

A further 1,347 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 786,095.

By October 11, the country had injected over 55.22 million doses of vaccines to date, with more than 16.14 million people now fully inoculated.
