COVID-19: New cases on October 21 reach 3,618

Vietnam recorded 3,618 cases of COVID-19 on October 21, including 18 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health.

HCM City still recorded the highest number of infections with 1,255, followed by neighbouring Binh Duong province with 483 and Dong Nai province with 390.

The national tally now stands at 877,537.
According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 3,041 patients nationwide are in serious conditions, with 381 requiring invasive ventilation and 20 on life support (ECMO).

On the day, the country saw 71 deaths from the disease. The death toll now hits 21,487.

A further 1,541 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 798,124.

By October 20, the country had injected over 68.8 million doses of vaccines to date, with more than 19.45 million people now fully inoculated.
