The information was mentioned at the meeting held on December 6 between the Health Ministry and leaders of provinces with increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases including Can Tho, Tay Ninh, Soc Trang, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, and An Giang.

Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long requested the hospitals on the list assigned to provide support for southern provinces to quickly send more medical workers to these provinces to help with COVID-19 treatment.

He noted that southern localities must strictly implement pandemic prevention measures, particularly in localities at pandemic levels 3 and 4, to control the number of new infections.

He emphasised that the Health Ministry will continue to allocate COVID-19 vaccines to localities while asking all localities to review the list of the elderly and people with underlying medical conditions who have not been vaccinated with the aim to give them injections and protect them from severe development in case of infection with the COVID-19 virus.

Localities were also requested to strengthen management and monitoring of F0s at home and to ensure that medical services are always available and close to the people through the establishment of local health stations and mobile medical teams.

Vietnam recorded more than 14,500 COVID-19 cases in 59 provinces and cities nationwide on December 6, with the highest number of cases posted in Can Tho, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Soc Trang, Ben Tre, Dong Thap, and Ca Mau.
