The Health Ministry has just issued a document to localities nationwide on the extension of the shelf life of the Comirnaty vaccine.
Under the document, the Health Ministry said it agreed to increase the shelf life of the vaccine at storage conditions from -90C to -60C, following the approval of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The shelf life of the vaccine will be extended by three months, which can be administered for people aged from 12 years old.
The Health Ministry also requested localities to urgently implement the vaccination campaign in accordance with the instructions of the ministry.
The ministry also asked for the promotion of communication on the use and expiry date of the vaccine.
Heads of the health sector in localities where vaccines expire due to not being used, must take accountability for the incident.
