Cho Ray Hospital receives JICA President Award 2021

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam held a ceremony on January 15 to present the JICA President Award 2021 to Cho Ray Hospital in acknowledgement of its outstanding achievements and contributions in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.

According to Director of Cho Ray Hospital Nguyen Tri Thuc, during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City, there were days when Cho Ray Hospital and the COVID-19 Resuscitation Hospital were responsible for treating more than 1,200 critically-ill patients, while the pressure and hardship experienced by the medical staff of the two treatment facilities was indescribable.

Director Thuc also expressed his thanks to JICA for promptly presenting Cho Ray Hospital with two packages of emergency equipment in 2020 and 2021, making significant contributions to the prevention and control of the COVID-19 epidemic.

He also expressed his expectation that the relationship between Cho Ray Hospital and JICA will continue to develop, becoming a green symbol for the sustainable cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

The JICA President Award is known to be presented to individuals and groups in honour of their outstanding contributions to the cause of human resource training and economic and social development in developing countries through international cooperation projects.

Cho Ray Hospital are among 48 individuals and organisations worldwide to have received this Award in 2021.
