The programme is the tenth of its kind to be observed, with the aim to encourage young doctors to work towards a healthy Vietnam.

This year’s event will run until June 28 with the participation of around 20,000 young doctors nationwide.

Various activities will be organised during the event, including the provision of free health check-ups, consultations, and medicine for 300,000 people in remote areas; free eye surgeries for 1,000 elders; surgeries for children with birth defects; and screening tests for cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam Young Doctors’ Association also announced the launching of the ‘Walking for Health’ contest in response to the World Health Organisation’s call to promote healthy lifestyle and regular physical activities.

On the occasion, the organising board presented gifts to disadvantaged cancer patients as well as patients living in difficulties in eight provinces and cities across the country.
