“Red Journey” blood donation campaign launched

Red Journey blood donation campaign 2019 is organised in five provinces and cities, including Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Quang Binh, Tuyen Quang and Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to attract the attention to of the public to the humanitarian movement.

Thousands of people, including many soldiers, students and locals, donated their blood during the event in Ho Chi Minh, on July 6. The event expects to collect roughly 1,500 blood units.

On the same day, the "Red Journey” programme in 2019 was also organised in Tuy Hoa city, Phu Yen province, attracting the participation of more than 1,000 people.

The programme "Red Journey" in Phu Yen province mobilizes more than 900 blood units to reserve at the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and more than 100 blood units supply separately for emergency care and treatment for Phu Yen provincial General Hospital.

Meanwhile, in Nha Trang city, the campaign features the participation of about 2,000 local people, donating 1,500 blood units.

The 2019 Red Journey Blood Donation Campaign was launched in Quang Binh province. The event attracted 1,200 people, including many soldiers, students and locals, receiving 750 blood units.

On the occasion, the Red Cross Association of Quang Binh province presented certificates of merit to 12 individuals, who have outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement. In addition, the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) Quang Binh branch handed over 15 gifts to patients with blood diseases.

As of June 30, the 2019 Red Journey Blood Donation Campaign was held in 17 provinces and cities, including Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Ninh Binh, Quang Ngai, Hai Phong, Da Nang, Lai Chau, Dak Lak, Lam Dong and Dak Nong, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Quang Ninh, Can Tho, An Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Lang Son, receiving 19,347 blood units.
