Red Journey 2019: Over 85,000 units of blood collected

The largest humanitarian blood donation campaign of the year, known as Red Journey, organised 58 official donation collection points and 207 mobile blood donation points, receiving over 85,000 units of blood.

This information was announced at a conference held in Hanoi on July 27.

At the conference, delegates discussed and shared the results of Red Journey 2019 and proposed the orientation for Red Journey2020.

2019 is the first year that the campaign has been held for such along period, from June 11 – July 31, with 39 cities and provinces taking part. Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa all joined the campaign’s seventh edition.

According to Do Hoang Tuan, Chairman of Lam Dong provincial Red Cross, the appearance of representatives of the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donationhelps to raise local leaders’ awareness of the programme; improve its significance; and create a stronger diffusion for the programme.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross,Vu Hong Hai, proposed selecting Co To Island as a location in which to organise blood donation for many days during Red Journey 2020.

The next Red Journey is expected to have many new, creative, unique and attractive features in many provinces.
