Aiming to facilitate the development of pharmaceutical companies and raise public awareness about healthcare and drug use habits, the bank offers information on more than 10,000 currently circulating drugs and nearly 41,000 manufacturing and distribution facilities and licensed pharmacists.

The pharmaceutical database provides users with a comprehensive search platform, which can be accessed conveniently via the website or on mobile apps.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Dr. Truong Quoc Cuong, Deputy Minister of Health emphasised that the drug bank would bring utilities for users such as management agencies, medical staff, pharmaceutical enterprises and the community.

Thanks to the bank, management agencies can easily track the changing history of drugs and business operations over time, while quickly interacting in a two-way manner to update information and control drug quality, distribution and circulation, as well as supporting the management of drug prices in an efficient manner.

Physicians can access the most complete database of all drugs circulating in Vietnam from an official channel, thus getting updates on the latest information on drugs to support them in providing treatment.

Meanwhile, the public will also have access to the system and will be supported with knowledge related to safe, effective and economical use of drugs, while being able to look up accurate information about the origin of medicines, drug prices and pharmacies meeting Good Production Practices (GPP).

The project is implemented under cooperation between the Health Ministry and the GMP Marketing Company after a three-year preparation period. It also marks a milestone in drug management in Vietnam with the Drug Administration having formed a few national-level management agencies that have built a drug data system and provide search tools for the community.
