The information was released at a gala held in Ho Chi Minh City on December 15. Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee was in attendance at the event.

Launched in 2008 by Vietnam Television and Vietnam Military Telecommunications Group Viettel, the ‘Hearts for you’ programme has raised about VND152 billion donated by many individuals, organisations and enterprises in the country and overseas.

With the achieved results, this programme has brought a normal life to poverty-stricken children suffering from heart diseases, as well as great happiness to their families.

In addition, over 130,000 children suffering from heart disease nationwide were provided with free checks-up and treatment.

Experts say that early detection of congenital heart defects along with the correct treatment can help children with heart disease to increase their survival rate and to grow normally like their peers.
