The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remained at 328, of whom 188 are imported cases and have been quarantined after their arrival.

On June 3, four more COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear and discharged from the Thai Binh General Hospital, bringing the total number of recoveries to 302, equivalent to 92.1%.

The remainders are being treated at provincial and central hospitals and have stable health condition. Among them, nine have tested negative for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once and four others tested negative at least twice. That means there are only 13 patients positive cases in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the country’s most critically ill COVID-19 patient, a British pilot, came off life support on June 3 morning. Doctors at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City have gradually lowered his extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) settings to the point where they deemed it safe to switch off the machine.

While the patient was off ECMO at the moment, his condition remains quite serious and will still be closely monitored, especially in terms of his lung infections and drug resistance. The 43-year-old patient, now free from the coronavirus, will need several weeks to be completely independent of life support and gradually restore his motor functions.
