The event was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of PCC Commission for Communication and Education Vo Van Thuong; PCC member and Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; and Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long.

The first prize went to Ha Van Dao, a journalist from Suc khoe va Doi song (Health and Life) Newspaper, for his article depicting doctor Nay Blum, the head of the medical station in Glar Commune, Dak Doa District, Gia Lai Province.

Two second-place, three third-place and 14 consolation prizes were also presented at the ceremony.

The winning entries stood out from the nearly 1,200 articles sent to the contest, which was hosted by the Ministry of Health and Suc khoe va Doi song Newspaper. The entries praised the great services and silent contributions provided by Vietnamese medical staff in the care of people’s heath.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long said that touching stories are recorded every day by doctors and medical workers, who work devotedly for the people’s health.

He expressed his hope that journalists and writers will join hands to popularise these stories to the public, thus honouring exemplary doctors while building a healthy society and encouraging the practice of healthy behaviours.
