Vietnam reports two new imported Covid-19 cases

On the morning of July 25, Vietnam reported two more imported Covid-19 cases, involving two Vietnamese citizens coming back from Russia (transiting via Belarus) on July 17.

The new cases brought the total number of infections to 415.

Patient no.414 is a 34-year-old man from Dai Hop commune, Kien Thuy district, in the northern port city of Hai Phong.

Meanwhile, the latest patient is a 25-year-old man from Ninh Son commune, Viet Yen district, in the northern province of Bac Giang.

They arrived in Van Don Airport from Russia on flight VN5062 and were quarantined immediately at Regiment 855, Ninh Binh province.

Vietnam has reported no community infections of COVID-19 since April 16, for 100 consecutive days.

The total number of people who have had close contact with COVID-19 patients or returned from pandemic-hit areas is 11,815. They are all being quarantined across the country.

The suspected patient is being treated at the isolated area of Da Nang Hospital.

* On July 24, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee Le Trung Chinh directed the relevant local agencies to urgently take all necessary measures regarding Covid-19 prevention and control after one suspected case was reported in the locality.

He asked the City’s Department of Health to continue contact tracing and quarantine work as well as coordinating with the relevant agencies to help the city’s People’s Committee and steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and control to issue documents on effective Covid-19 prevention and control measures.

He also ordered the city disease control centre to coordinate with the relevant agencies and localities to spray Covid-19 disinfectant chemicals at all places related to the suspected case as well as conduct more tests on people who illegally entered the city from July 1.

Hanoi's citizens are asked to wear face masks at public places.

* Hanoi municipal People’s Committee has issued a document No.3284/UBND-KGVX on the implementation of the Prime Minister’s direction on Covid-19 prevention and control, asking districts, towns and functional forces to continue to promote the epidemic prevention and control strategy.

Accordingly, relevant agencies should maintain the positive results achieved in recent times and continue to be vigilant and not avoid mistakes in the prevention and control of disease.

Epidemic prevention and control measures should be proactively implemented, especially rapid testing, washing of hands and the wearing of masks in crowded public places.

* The Vietnam Airport Corporation on July 24 also issued a directive requiring airports to strictly implement measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic as recommended by the Ministry of Health.

* The National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control yesterday sent a document on enhancing epidemic prevention and control measures for experts entering Vietnam to work.

Accordingly, they must be tested for SARS-CoV-2 with the Real time-PCR technique three to seven days before their entry into Vietnam.
