All four patients, known as Patients 398, 399, 400 and 401 are among a group of Vietnamese citizens repatriated from Russia on July 17.
They were quarantined immediately after entry at a military-run isolation camp in Thinh Lang Ward, Hoa Binh City, the capital of Hoa Binh Province, while the four patients have been provided with treatment at the Hoa Binh Province’s General Hospital after being confirmed positive for the coronavirus on July 22.
By August 3, all four patients had multiple negative test results and were eligible for discharge.
In addition, five residents in the quarantine camp who are close contact with the four COVID-19 patients have completed their 14-day quarantine.
After receiving their release certificates, all nine citizens were sent to their hometowns on coaches arranged by the Military Command of Hoa Binh Province. They will continue with a 14-day self-isolation in their localities.
With the latest recoveries, the total number of COVID-19 patients free from the coronavirus in Vietnam has climbed to 378 out of a total of 652 confirmed cases by 3 pm this afternoon.
Earlier, on Tuesday morning, the Ministry of Health announced two more deaths related to COVID-19. The departed were identified as a 62-year-old woman (Patient No. 426) residing in Hoa Vang District of the central city of Da Nang – the current hotbed for COVID-19 in Vietnam, and a 65-year-old man (Patient No. 496) from the same district. Both died of end-stage chronic kidney failure, septic shock, multi-organ dysfunction and COVID-19.
So far, Vietnam has recorded a total of eight deaths related to COVID-19, including Patients 426, 428, 429, 437, 475, 496, 499 and 524.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son noted that there are currently several COVID-19 patients at high risk of death due to serious underlying health conditions as well as old age.
The national tally of COVID-19 cases now stands at 652, of which 307 were imported cases quarantined upon arrival. According to the health ministry, the new outbreak in the community has seen 205 cases in nine cities and provinces, all with epidemiological factors related to the Da Nang outbreak.
On the same day, Deputy Minister Son, who is also Head of the COVID-19 Special Division of the Ministry of Health in Da Nang, inspected the preparation for treatment of COVID-19 patients at Military Hospital 17 stationed in Da Nang.

As planned by the Da Nang health sector, Military Hospital 17 could become a place to receive and treat COVID-19 patients in case of the disease developing further.
Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Ha, the hospital’s director, announced that the facility has 200 beds and is ready to become the third field hospital in Da Nang. Currently, the hospital has been strengthened in terms of both medical equipment and personnel from the Ministry of Defence.
Also this morning, Deputy Minister Son came to check its readiness for receiving patients transferred from Da Nang Hospital at Vinmec International Hospital.
The Da Nang Department of Health on the same day announced four local medical facilities licenced by the competent authorities as eligible to carry out tests to confirm COVID-19, including Da Nang Hospital, Da Nang Lung Hospital, Hospital 199 (under the Ministry of Public Security) and the Da Nang City Centre for Disease Control.
The People's Committee of Da Nang has approved a plan to organise wide-range testing of SARS-CoV-2 throughout the city, in order to promptly respond to the spread of COVID-19 in the central coastal city.
