In response to an urgent direction from the Ministry of Health (MoH), a mobile team of five experienced experts from the Hanoi-based hospital arrived at the Hai Duong Province General Hospital on August 14 to provide immediate support to the medical facility.
The working group performs the task of supporting and directing the organisation of COVID-19 prevention and control and testing for SARS-CoV-2 at the hospital, while providing SARS-CoV-2 test kits for the Hai Duong’s hospital.
In addition, the MoH has asked Hanoi Medical University Hospital and the National Paediatric Hospital to support Hai Duong's health sector in performing COVID-19 tests, after the province detected four infections.
The source of infection for the first patient who contracted the coronavirus is still unknown, while he has spread the disease to three close contacts.
Facing the complex development of the pandemic, on the evening of August 14, the Hai Duong province’s COVID-19 Steering Committee sent a request to the National COVID-19 Steering Committee and the MoH, calling for the provision of medical supplies and PCR testing kits, which will be used to sample all close contacts of the local COVID-19 patients and about 2,000 people in related residential areas under medical blockade.
The MoH will assist Hai Duong in tracing, quarantining, localising and stamping out the outbreak. Its specialised agencies are urgently conducting in-depth analysis and decoding the viral genes of the coronavirus found in the Hai Duong patients to examine its relevance to the virus strain in Da Nang.
The ministry will coordinate with Hai Duong to quickly reactivate the entire system of COVID-19 testing machines in the province, while conducting large-scale screenings with an expected capacity of 1,500 samples per day.

By the end of August 14, 52,449 local residents in Ho Chi Minh City who have returned from Da Nang from July 1 have made medical declarations at local medical stations.
The city has performed COVID-19 tests for all the above cases, of which 51,577 have had negative test results, six were confirmed positive for COVID-19 and 866 others are awaiting their test results.
The six positive cases mentioned above are all related to the Da Nang outbreak.
Currently, the city has not detected new infections from the patients’ close contacts. Other related cases have been isolated or are being self-monitored at home under surveillance.
Such results in epidemic zoning and defence have initially showed that Ho Chi Minh City is controlling the COVID-19 pandemic well.
