The 62-year-old Indian man was released from the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases this morning, along with a local female patient who had contracted the coronavirus after her tour to Da Nang City in late July.
The foreign expert arrived at Noi Bai airport in Hanoi on August 28 and showed suspected positive test results. He was sent to the hospital two days later with the next test positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Thanks to his effective treatment at the hospital, the Indian man recovered and was released today after showing multiple negative test results.
The 30-year-old female from Hanoi was also released along with the foreign expert. She was admitted to the hospital on August 7 after showing some signs of infection following her trip to Da Nang – the epicentre of the second wave of COVID-19 infections in Vietnam.
Currently, the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases is providing treatment to several remaining COVID-19 patients. However, both severely-ill patients there have been stabilised and are expected to be released in the next couple of days after having sufficient negative tests as prescribed.
The two men, from Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces, are the most severe COVID-19 patients in the North at this time. They are suffering from co-morbidities, bacterial infection and lung damage due to COVID-19, but thanks to the efforts of the hospital’s doctors, the duo have recovered well and are in rehabilitation awaiting their release.
On the same day, at the Hoa Vang Field Hospital in Da Nang, two COVID-19 patients were also discharged following their full recovery, leaving only three remaining patients still undergoing treatment at the facility.
All the latest recoveries will continue to be isolated and monitored at home for the next 14 days.
The total number of cases in Vietnam still stood at 1,063 cases as of 3 pm this afternoon. The country has had 15 consecutive days without any new infections detected in the community.
On September 16-17, nearly 280 Vietnamese citizens, stranded in 10 European countries due to the COVID-19 pandemic, were brought home on a Vietnam Airlines flight arranged by Vietnamese authorities and representative organisations in Europe, national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, and authorities from the 10 European nations. The Vietnamese Consulate General in Frankfurt sent its staff to the airport to assist passengers with boarding procedures.
Budget carrier Vietjet plans to resume regular international flights to Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Taiwan (China) from September 29 to meet the needs of passengers for safe study, work and travel. The airline will operate one flight on the Ho Chi Minh City-Tokyo route (Narita, Japan) on Tuesdays; one flight on the Ho Chi Minh City-Seoul (Incheon, the RoK) on Wednesdays; and one flight on the Hanoi-Taipei (Taoyuan, Taiwan - China) on Thursdays. Passengers departing from Vietnam must have a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 test result taken at most three days before departure times as well as complying with the mandatory medical quarantine requirements of the host countries and territories.

From September 15 to 18, Binh Thuan Provincial Red Cross Society coordinated with Ham Thuan Nam District Post Office to provide financial support worth VND347 million to 125 disadvantaged households in Tan Thuan Commune and Thuan Nam Town of Ham Thuan Nam District, The support is from a COVID-19 response project sponsored by the Swiss Red Cross through the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
Previously, in June 2020, the Binh Thuan Red Cross allocated financial support worth VND300 million under the first phase of this project to 125 households in Phu Lac Commune and Lien Huong Town in Tuy Phong District.
