The letter was delivered as Vietnam is being hit by the fourth coronavirus wave with the fastest spread ever.
Long stated that medical workers must constantly be vigilant and do their best to prevent and combat the disease, for the cause of protecting, caring for and improving the people’s health.
He called on each individual and collective in the health sector to continue to join hands and stay determined to repel COVID-19, thus safeguarding the lives and health of the people, promptly bringing life back to normal, and promoting national socio-economic development.
Given the complexity of the pandemic, a high level of concentration should be maintained within the sector, especially among the heads of Party committees, agencies and units, the minister said, urging healthcare workers to raise their levels of vigilance, apply the valuable lessons learnt to build on and promote the obtained results, and creatively respond to all situations related to the disease.
To do that, stronger and more drastic involvement of the whole health system is required, as is the wholehearted dedication of each individual, and the solidarity of the entire sector, he emphasised.
Highlighting the possible disadvantages and risks faced by medical workers in this gunless battle, Long urged for their resilient fighting spirit and unceasing efforts to fulfill the responsibility of protecting the people’s health and the peace of the country.
Vietnam is currently experiencing its fourth wave of COVID-19, with 580 new cases having been confirmed across 26 cities and provinces nationwide from April 27 to May 12.
