86 new COVID-19 infections discovered on June 10

At noon on June 10, Vietnam announced 88 new COVID-19 infections, including two imported cases that were quarantined immediately upon their arrival in the provinces of Kien Giang and An Giang and 86 domestically-transmitted ones.

Of the local cases, 52 were found in Bac Giang, 15 in Ho Chi Minh City, 10 in Bac Ninh, 4 in Hanoi, 2 in Ha Tinh, 1 in Lang Son, 1 in Hai Duong and 1 in Long An. As many as 81 cases were detected in quarantine or locked-down areas.

As of noon on June 10, the country’s total number of infections stands at 9,723, including 8,106 domestic cases and 1,617 imported cases. There have been 6,536 cases since the latest outbreak hit the country on April 27. The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed 55 lives in Vietnam so far.

Sixteen provinces have gone 14 days without new cases. They are Yen Bai, Quang Ngai, Dong Nai, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Dak Lak, Nam Dinh, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho, Son La, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa.

On June 10, the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Hanoi hosted a ceremony to receive donations for the prevention and control of COVID-19, with a total amount reaching over VND20 billion. From January 1 until now, the Hanoi VFF Committee has received money and goods worth VND135 billion for the work.

On the same day, the VFF Committee of Cao Bang Province held a ceremony to launch a donation campaign to support the COVID-19 prevention and control fund. At the ceremony, nearly 100 units, organisations and individuals donated more than VND5.5 billion to the fund. On the occasion, Cao Bang has deducted from its COVID-19 prevention and control fund VND 1 billion to support the two provinces of Bac Giang and Bac Ninh in controlling the epidemic.

Also on June 10, the Phongsubthavy Group of Laos contributed capital and medical supplies worth US$1 million to Vietnam’s COVID-19 vaccine fund. Speaking at a handover ceremony held at the Vietnam Embassy in Vientiane, Phongsavath Senaphuan, Chairman of the Phongsubthavy Group, said the group wants to join hands with the Vietnamese Party, State and people in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

On the evening of June 9, the Vietnamese Embassy in Canada organised a donation campaign to support the Vietnam’s COVID-19 vaccine fund. Right on the launch day, all officers and employees of the embassy and representative agencies of Vietnam in Canada donated a day's salary to support the fund.
