Japan to donate 1 more million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam

Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi has announced Japan will donate another one million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam.

The information was released by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health on June 26.Earlier, on June 16, an Air Japan (ANA) flight carrying 966,320 doses landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.

Speaking at the reception ceremony, Vietnamese Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said this precious gift demonstrated the fine relationship between the Government and people of Japan and the Government and people of Vietnam, especially in the context of the epidemic and the current shortage of vaccine supplies worldwide.

The Health Minister also said Vietnam is the first country in Southeast Asia to receive COVID-19 vaccine aid from Japan.

As a result, along with the vaccine batch provided on June 16, Japan will have donated two million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Vietnam.
