240 Vietnamese citizens brought home from the US

A total of 240 Vietnamese citizens have been brought home safely on a flight arranged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnamese Embassy in the US, functional agencies from both countries, and the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA).

Strict security, safety and epidemiological measures were applied at the highest level during the flight.
Strict security, safety and epidemiological measures were applied at the highest level during the flight.

This was the first flight among 12 repatriation flights to be conducted by VNA this year, as permitted by US aviation authorities to bring Vietnamese citizens home.

The 36-hour flight left Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport on June 22 for Washington DC with a stop in Alaska before returning to Vietnam at 0:00 on June 25.

Strict security, safety and epidemiological measures were applied at the highest level during the flight to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amidst the current complicated developments of the pandemic.

All crew members and passengers had their body temperatures checked before boarding and were quarantined upon arrival at Cam Ranh International Airport in the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa as regulated.

VNA remains the only Vietnamese carrier to have received flight permits from the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which has very stringent requirements.

VNA expects the flights to help the conducting of regular flights between the two countries after the COVID-19 pandemic is placed under control.
