Vietnam confirms 151 more COVID-19 cases

The Ministry of Health (MoH) confirmed 151 new COVID-19 infections, including four imported cases, in the 12 hours prior to 6am on July 2, raising the national count to 17,727.

Of the new locally-infected cases, 118 were found in Ho Chi Minh City, 10 in Phu Yen, five in Dong Nai, four in An Giang, three in Long An, two each in Nghe An and Dong Thap, and one each in Ha Tinh, KhanhHoa and Binh Phuoc.

To date, Vietnam has documented 15,905 domestic infections and 1,822 imported ones. The number of new cases since the fourth wave of outbreaks hit the country on April 27 has reached 14,335. Among the active patients, 260 have tested negative for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 138 twice and 89 thrice. The number of fatalities related COVID-19 is 81.

On the evening of July 1,Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Standing Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Bac Ninh Province Vuong Quoc Tuan said that based on the actual situation, from 0:00 on July 2, the province has implemented some social distancing measures in a number of wards in Bac Ninh City.

Specifically, in Decision No. 235/QD-BCD, Bac Ninh Province adjusted the application of social isolation measures to prevent and control the COVID-19 epidemic under Directive No.16/CT-TTg to social distancing according to Directive 19/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister for wards Vu Ninh, Dap Cau, Kinh Bac, Van An, Nam Son and Khac Niem of Bac Ninh City.

According to the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang, in the face of complicated developments, the Ministry of Health has established a team to support the prevention and control of COVID-19 in the province.

This group is responsible for supporting sampling, guiding testing, supporting treatment, and guiding biosecurity, epidemic prevention and treatment in isolation areas, industrial parks, offices, schools, public areas, etc.
