In his letter issued on late July 19, Phong called for the support, trust, sympathy and sharing from all the compatriots with the local government, urging them to continue to strictly implement current social distancing measures, especially in isolation camps and blockade areas.

Each citizen needs to raise their own awareness of protecting themselves, their families and the community, as well as accepting sacrifices of immediate benefits and some inconveniences and difficulties, so that the city can soon be stable and develop sustainably, he said.

Phong also asked the residents to promote the fine national tradition of mutual support to share with and help each other to overcome this difficult period.

Faced with the complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, on the same day, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) issued an official dispatch requesting its affiliates at all levels to strengthen the mobilisation of people to participate in COVID-19 prevention and control, as well as to support each other in overcoming the difficulties caused by the epidemic.

Such units should coordinate with the local authorities to ensure the sufficient supply of essential goods and food to serve the people. In particular, it is necessary to strengthen the supervision activities of the VFF units and socio-political organisations to ensure the implementation of support policies for people and employers facing difficulties due to the epidemic.

Meanwhile, in Hanoi, the local authorities have developed plans to ensure the supply of goods in the event that there is an outbreak in the capital city.

In a meeting with the concerned units and local goods distribution businesses on July 19, Vice Chairman of Hanoi City People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen asked the local agricultural sector to develop production plans based on the disease's evolution to meet the demand on the spot.

The Hanoi Department of Transport was urged to coordinate with other units to develop a "green channel" plan to facilitate vehicles transporting essential goods, ensuring smooth flow without congestion.

The Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade was tasked with reviewing and making a specific list of the entire system of markets, trade centres, convenience stores, and supermarkets to distribute goods to meet the needs of the people.
