Ho Chi Minh City begins fifth phase of its large-scale COVID-19 vaccination

Ho Chi Minh City has started the fifth phase of its large-scale COVID-19 vaccination campaign today June 22. The city has so far received more than 930,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines including AstraZeneca, Moderna, Pfizer and Sinopharm.

Doctor Nguyen Huu Hung, deputy director of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the priority subjects in this phase of vaccination still follow the Government Resolution 21.

Besides the frontline forces who were prioritised in the previous phases of vaccination, more groups of people will be protected including people over 65 years old, people with underlying diseases, policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services, needy and vulnerable people, and people working at medical facilities, Hung noted.

In addition to injection points across the city's districts and Thu Duc city, Ho Chi Minh City has also began vaccination at Tri Phuong Hospital, Nhan Dan 115 Hospital, Nhan Dan Gia Dinh Hospital, and Children's Hospital.

Vaccination will not be implemented in quarantined zones but people will be immediately injected as soon as the blockade is removed.

Ho Chi Minh City has organised 615 injection points across the city to carry out its fifth phase of COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Each ward, commune and town will arrange at least two injection points with 120 to 200 people injected per point per day.

The city is expected to complete the injection of 930,000 doses of vaccines in two weeks.
