NDO – On July 22, Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in coordination with businesses presented gifts to people affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

Accordingly, the representative office joined Long An-based Thien Phuc Real Estate Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Traffic Safety Association, Vietnam Seafarers Union, and other donors to deliver 1,000 gifts to poor people in Thu Duc District, District 12, Go Vap District, and Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City.

The gifts included essential necessities worth VND224 million in total.

This the second time the representative office has participated in gift-giving activity since Ho Chi Minh City applied social distancing measures under the Prime Minister's Directive 16.

Earlier, on July 20, representatives from Vietnam Red Cross Society’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter and Chinese Vietnamese Buddhist followers in the city presented gifts worth a total of VND182 million to poor families, people who become jobless due to COVID-19, and households in quarantine and blockage areas in Binh Chanh District, which has recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infection cases in the city.

Most Venerable Thich Hue Cong said that the gift-giving event was made in response to Nhan Dan Newspaper’s call to support needy people amidst COVID-19.

Vice Chair of the Vietnam Red Cross Society’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter Nguyen Hoang An highly appreciated the timely support from the Chinese Vietnamese Buddhist followers and benefactors to disadvantaged people, which can help them to overcome the difficulties caused by the pandemic and bring joy to their lives.
