Health ministry seeks expert opinions on 2022 virus prevention strategy

The Ministry of Health (MOH) recently held a meeting with experts to solicit their opinions on the strategy to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022.

Minister Nguyen Thanh Long said that during the current outbreak, the situation in hotspots such as Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai and Long An is improving while the capital city Hanoi is also taking aggressive measures centred around vaccination and testing.

He said the strategy for 2022 and the subsequent period will include a range of solutions including enhancing the healthcare system’s response capacity and other technical matters such as testing, treatment, vaccines and medicines.

At the meeting, experts offered their opinions on the testing and treatment of COVID-19 patients as well as vaccines, including access to foreign supplies and domestic research.

They also proposed some practical solutions based on the experience of other countries and the situation in Vietnam, and suggested the MOH pay attention to healthcare workers, especially those on the frontline.
