Ho Chi Minh City focuses on care for infected people

Ho Chi Minh City’s COVID-19 strategy will focus on managing infected people who are being treated at home and enhancing treatment at hospitals, according to municipal leaders at a press conference on September 18.

Deputy of the Health Department Nguyen Van Vinh Chau said the strategy aims to reduce deaths by ensuring patients receiving at-home care will quickly recover and those in worsening conditions will be promptly hospitalised for treatment.

The city will continue monitoring the epidemiological situation constantly in order to take prompt actions as well as conduct testing to timely detected people at risk of infection.

According to Colonel Le Manh Ha, the municipal police department is working with three green zones of District 7, Cu Chi District and Can Gio District to formulate a plan to re-open some activities permitted by the city’s government.

* During his visit to the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on September 18, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam asked the city to ramp up testing in order to soon break up the chains of infection, narrow the areas with high risks and expand the green zones where the risks are lower.

He asked the city to impose lockdowns on the smallest scope possible upon detecting new cases, adding that screening tests must still be conducted in green and yellow zones in line with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines.

On the same day in Tra Vinh Province, Deputy PM Dam praised the provincial government and people’s efforts to bring the virus under control, especially the low death ratio.

He asked the provincial authorities to take measures to safeguard Tra Vinh as a green soon resume industrial production in a safe and sustainable way.

As of September 17, Tra Vinh has recorded 1,475 cases of COVID-19 with 20 deaths.
