Collectives and individuals honoured for supporting COVID-19 fight in Ho Chi Minh City

The Ho Chi Minh City authorities held a ceremony on October 6 to honour 43 collectives and 100 individuals of working groups who have assisted in the prevention and control of COVID-19 in the city.

Participants at the event observed one-minute silence for the health workers, front line forces and all those who died of COVID-19.

On behalf of the city's leaders, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Phan Van Mai expressed his appreciation and gratitude to more than 12,000 doctors, nurses, technicians, medical staff, medical students, volunteers as well as more than 14,000 officers and soldiers who have braved all dangers and difficulties to join the city’s fight against COVID-19.

To date, nearly 6,600 medical staff from 40 hospitals across the country have headed to Ho Chi Minh City to assist the southern hub in the containing of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry of Defence has also sent more than 1,400 military doctors to the city.

In addition, nearly 3,900 lecturers and medical students from many medical institutions have so far volunteered for the frontline forces in the fight against COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City.
