Vice President meets female foreign ambassadors, chargés d' affaires

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hosted a reception in Hanoi on October 19 with female ambassadors, chargés d'affaires and chief representatives of international organisations in Vietnam on the occasion of Vietnamese Women’s Day (October 20).

Addressing the event, Vice President Xuan highly appreciated the outstanding achievements and active contributions made by the female diplomats in promoting political, diplomatic, economic, cultural and social activities which empower women, children and disadvantaged groups, thus promoting peace building, cooperation and mutual development of nations around the world.

She also applauded female diplomats for their active contributions to fostering the friendship and practical cooperation between Vietnam and the countries they represent.

While emphasising the great role and significant contributions of Vietnamese women in the national Doi Moi (Renewal) process and international integration, she stated that, over the past years, Vietnam has made remarkable progress regarding women's rights and leadership in many fields.

She took the opportunity to extend her sincere thanks for assistance provided by the foreign countries and partners, particularly the female diplomats, to help Vietnam contain COVID-19 pandemic and return to new normal situation.

She reaffirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State and people always create favourable conditions for ambassadors and chargés d'affaires to fulfil their tasks, thus continuing to connect and promote cooperation for mutual benefits between Vietnam and the countries they represent.

She called on the female diplomats to focus more on cooperation in disease prevention and control, and socio-economic recovery while working to facilitate travel and trade between countries as well as the organisation of delegation exchanges and meetings in the post-COVID-19 period.

She also called for closer cooperation in promoting gender equality within bilateral and multilateral cooperation frameworks, to achieve sustainable development goals, towards a dynamic and prosperous future.

At the meeting, the female diplomats conveyed their thanks for the Vice President for hosting the reception, affirming their willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
