Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City urged to become leading research university in Asia

Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia paid a congratulatory visit to Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day (November 20).

Lauding the university for the important progress made in the university rankings as well as in their scientific research results, Nghia underscored that the university should also seize opportunities and focus on human resources training in order to become a leading educational centre not only of Vietnam but also of Asia.

He also encouraged Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City to attract more social resources for its development and further expand ties with foreign partners to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

The university should continue to create favourable conditions for lecturers, scientists and students to engage in scientific research, including in the development and application of technology to production and the business activities of enterprises, as well as to share experience with renowned universities and colleges in the region and around the world, he noted.

On the occasion, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Communication and Education Nguyen Trong Nghia also present 10 scholarships to students of the university who are living in difficult circumstances.
