Presenting the honour to the diplomat, VUFO President Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga said her tenure was a period of many important events in the Vietnam - Mexico relationship between Vietnam and Mexico, particularly the celebration of the 40th and 45th founding anniversaries of their diplomatic relations in 2015 and 2020.

She noted that the ambassador actively promoted the high-level visit of the President of Mexico to Vietnam to attend the 2017 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting – the first visit of a Mexican senior leader to Vietnam since the two countries established diplomatic relations.

During her time in Vietnam, Sarah Valdez Bolano has worked extensively to promote the nations’ cooperation across many fields from politics- diplomacy to trade, economy, education, culture, collaboration between localities, and people-to-people exchange.

Regarding economy-trade, the ambassador made efforts to promote the concretisation of joint works between the two countries via the signing of many bilateral cooperation documents such as a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of the joint committee on economic, trade and investment cooperation between the Secretariat of Economy of Mexico and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2016, and a cooperation agreement between the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment & Technology and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2019.

Nga hoped the Mexican diplomat will make further contribution to the Vietnam – Mexico traditional friendship and cooperation on her future posts.

Expressing her delight to receive the honour, Sarah Valdez Bolano vowed to foster the growing friendship between the Vietnamese and Mexican peoples.

In recent years, both nations paid attention to stepping up their people-to-people exchanges particularly in culture, art, and science, she noted.
