75 outstanding contributors to COVID-19 fight in Ho Chi Minh City honoured

The Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society held a ceremony on November 23 to honour 75 outstanding individuals and collectives who made significant contributions to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the city.

Participants at the event listened to the sharing of the volunteers, who have participated in activities to support children who became orphaned due to COVID-19, pregnant women, COVID-19 patients at hospitals, and frontline workers in the battle against the pandemic.

Since the beginning of this year, amidst the complicated developments of COVID-19, the Red Cross Society in Ho Chi Minh City has mobilised more than 391 billion VND to assist the COVID-19 fight.

From May 1 to October 30, it has mobilised around 500,000 volunteers to support 1.3 million people in the quarantine sites and blockaded areas as well as those affected by COVID-19. The volunteers also supported COVID-19 field hospitals and medical centres in 22 districts and Thu Duc City.
