Speaking at the reception, SBV Deputy Governor Dao Minh Tu thanked Shinhan for donating medical masks to serve the prevention and control of COVID-19 within the banking sector, adding that it is practical support in the context of the complicated development of the epidemic, while demonstrating the good cooperation and relationship between the two sides in particular as well as between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea in as a whole.

Tu also praised the lender for its success and contribution to the Vietnamese economy in general, as well as the banking industry's operations in particular. The deputy governor stated that in the recent months, Vietnam has faced challenges due to the pandemic, and Shinhan has followed the SBV’s directions on restructuring deadlines for debt repayment, assistance to individuals and businesses and guaranteeing the security of financial activities.

A Shinhan’s representative said that the bank always understands and accompanies Vietnam's difficulties in the fight against COVID-19. Through this meaningful activity, Shinhan hopes to continue contributions in the sharing of medical equipment and supporting the frontline workers in their fight against the pandemic, stabilise people's livelihood and move into socio-economic development in the “new normal” context.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, Shinhan has organised a series of social support works in order to aid in epidemic prevention and control through practical activities, including donating 6 billion VND to the Vietnam’s COVID-19 Vaccine Fund, presenting 500 million VND to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for its epidemic prevention and control, and sending over 300 gifts and medical supplies to frontline workers at quarantine camps in Lang Son and Can Tho.

In addition, the bank has synchronously deployed solutions to support and accompany businesses and individuals affected by COVID-19 through enticing interest rates and transaction fee exemption or reduction, as well as developing digital banking products and safe payment services.
