Winners of national press awards on population work honoured

A ceremony was held in Hanoi on December 15, to honour the winners of the National Press Awards on Population Work, as part of activities to mark the 60th anniversary of Vietnam Population Day (December 26, 1961-2021).

The contest’s jury selected 40 outstanding works, from a total of 608 entries, including 193 in printed newspapers and 315 in online newspapers.

They reflected honestly and creatively the results and achievements of the population work during the past 60 years, as well as the difficulties and challenges in times to come.

For the individual category, the special prize went to the work entitled “From ‘golden’ to ‘old’ population – Worrisome” by reporters from Hau Giang Newspaper. Meanwhile, two A, two B, five C and five consolation prizes were presented to other outstanding entries.

In terms of the collective category, Hai Phong city’s Sub-Department of Population and Family Planning received a special prize. In addition, the organising board awarded two A, two B, five C and five consolation prizes to other units.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Deputy Director General Office for Population and Family Planning Pham Vu Hoang noted that the achievements in population work have had great and positive impacts on economic growth and social progress, contributing to improving the quality of life’s and happiness of families. The above successes witnessed the important role and contributions made by the Vietnamese revolutionary press system.

The Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists' Association Ho Quang Loi said the national press awards on population work received the active response from many journalists and collaborators nationwide, despite the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic.
