COVID-19: Additional 15,527 cases confirmed on December 15

A total of 15,527 new infections of COVID-19 were reported in Vietnam on December 15, up 319 cases from the previous day, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the new infections, 9,940 were detected in the community, and five were imported.

Ho Chi Minh City reported the highest number of infections with 1,270. It was followed by Ca Mau with 1,072, Ben Tre with 1,035, and Hanoi with 1,024.

The total caseload since the beginning of the pandemic has now reached 1,459,175.

Vietnam also recorded 283 COVID-19 related fatalities, raising the country’s death toll to 28,616.

A total of 2,992 patients recovered from the disease on the day, meaning 1,063,428 people have been given the all-clear so far.

There are 7,822 COVID-19 patients nationwide who are in a serious condition, with 967 requiring invasive ventilation and 20 on life support (ECMO).

Over 59 million people in Vietnam have now been fully inoculated, and over 75.14 million people have received at least one vaccine dose.
