Photo exhibition highlights 50-year Vietnam - India friendship

A photo exhibition under the theme ‘Vietnamese - India friendship: A 50-year journey’ opened in Ho Chi Minh City on January 7, as an event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam – India diplomatic ties (1972-2022).

The event was co-organised by the Vietnam - India Friendship Association’s Ho Chi Minh City chapter, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, and the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

The exhibition displays more than 100 black and white and colour photos, capturing cooperation activities between the two nations in fields of economics, politics, security, defence, trade and investment, science and technology, cultural exchange and education.

The works on display also featured people-to-people diplomacy activities, between Vietnam and India in general and Ho Chi Minh City and Indian localities in particular.

Addressing the event, President of the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam-India Friendship Association Huynh Thanh Lap affirmed that Vietnam and India share many similarities in history, traditional culture and religion.

He noted with pleasure, that the bilateral friendship has been promoted over the past years, hailing that India has always supported Vietnam's construction and development.

Over the past two years, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the two sides have still maintained regular exchanges at all levels, and have adopted the Joint Vision Statement for Peace, Prosperity and People in December 2020, he stated.

The two countries have also provided each other with valuable support to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and resume economic development, he added.

Echoing the same views, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City Madan Mohan Sethi expressed his delight at the fruitful developments of the bilateral relations.

He also expressed his hope that the two countries promote further cooperation in the fields of health, education, culture and more.
