Gifts presented to policy beneficiaries ahead of Lunar New Year festival

NDO – On January 12, Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Vo Van Thuong visited and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries in Cho Don District in the northern province of Bac Kan to mark the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

In Luong Bang Commune, Politburo member Thuong delivered gifts to the family of revolutionary contributor Trieu Van Van in Na Tang Village.

He also presented Tet gifts to families of fallen and wounded soldiers, people infected with and exposed to the chemical in Bang Lung Town and the six communes of Yen Phong, Ngoc Phai, Bang Lang, Ngoc Phai, Phuong Vien, and Dong Thang. A total of 185 gifts were presented to families of policy beneficiaries in Cho Don District on the occasion.

Speaking to the recipients, Politburo member Thuong rejoiced at positive changes seen in Bac Kan Province as the local infrastructure has significantly improved and the people's living standards have increased.

He took the occasion to extend his best wishes for a new year full of good health, prosperity, and success to the authorities and people of Cho Don District.

* The same day, Politburo member, Minister of Public Security and General To Lam paid a pre-Tet visit to Ha Giang Province, during which he handed over 10 ventilators and 100 gift packages to medical staff, frontline workers, and COVID-19 patients at the provincial General Hospital.

He also offered 100 Tet gifts to local police officers and 34 trucks to 34 police stations, and then gave 100 presents to poor households and policy beneficiaries in Thanh Thuy Commune, Vi Xuyen District.

During his stay in Ha Giang, General To Lam offered incense at the Monument of Heroes and Fallen Soldiers in Thanh Thuy Commune and visited Vi Xuyen National Martyrs Cemetery.

* More than 30.1 trillion VND was donated to the Da Nang City ‘Fund for the Poor’ in 2021, as announced by the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s chapter in Da Nang City at a meeting held yesterday.

The money has been used to construct 68 new social houses, repair 265 downgraded houses, provide health check-ups and treatment for around 123,000 disadvantaged people, present scholarships to nearly 2,300 poor students, and deliver pre-Tet gifts to the poor.

Last year, the city’s Fatherland Front mobilised over 66.2 billion VND plus a large number of medical supplies and necessities to support the locality in the fight against the pandemic.
