NA Vice Chairman praises Dong Thap for efforts to contain the pandemic

Within a working session with the provincial leaders on January 13, National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong spoke highly of the great efforts made by the Dong Thap provincial authorities and people towards containing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Significantly, the COVID-19 pandemic was placed under control in Dong Thap in 2021. Since October last year, the province has been focused on implementing the dual tasks of preventing the pandemic while recovering socio-economic development.

As a result, the provincial economic growth rate reached 2.22% in 2021, ranking 9th among localities in the Mekong Delta region. The province also completed and exceeded 15 out of its 22 socio-economic development targets. Businesses have also exerted efforts to maintain production and avoid the disruption of production chains.

NA Vice Chairman Phuong asked the local border soldiers and police force to thoroughly gasp situation to timely handle any arising problems in border areas while promoting friendship in the borderline.

He also requested the local authorities to pay attention to implementing the Government’s two programmes on socio-economic recovery and COVID-19 prevention and control.

Marking the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year festival, the NA official visited Binh Thanh Border Post in Hong Ngu City, and presented gifts to 13 families of policy beneficiaries, poor households, and those affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

He also visited Thuong Phuoc International Border Gate in Hong Ngu District as well as Vinh Hoan Joint Stock Company.
