Overseas Vietnamese in Cambodia gather for pre-Tet celebration

NDO – The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia held a get-together on January 16, to celebrate the up-coming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, for staff of the embassy and Vietnamese representatives and families in Cambodia.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang briefed the guests and the Vietnamese community, about Vietnam's important achievements on political, economic and social fields over the past year.

The Ambassador lauded the staff of the Embassy and Vietnamese representative agencies, for their efforts in overcoming difficulties and successfully completing the tasks assigned by the Party and State.

According to the Ambassador, over the past year, despite numerous difficulties, the Vietnamese community in Cambodia, has promoted the spirit of solidarity, helping each other overcome difficulties, and stabilise their lives.

The Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia held a get-together, to celebrate the up-coming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang emphasised that in 2022, the two countries will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and the Friendship Year. The two sides will also jointly organise a series of activities of practical significance, in all fields, to celebrate this important event, he added.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Embassy, Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang presented gifts to five families of overseas Vietnamese, who have made many contributions to the work of the Vietnamese community in Cambodia.

The Embassy's Community Support Fund, together with a number of Vietnamese businesses investing in Cambodia, local localities and benefactors, also deployed a programme to support more than 3,500 families, living in difficult circumstances throughout 16 provinces and cities.
