Vietnam conducts vaccination campaign throughout Lunar New Year

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health is carrying out a fast-tracked vaccination campaign for all eligible children and adults from January 29 to February 28, including the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

The spring vaccination campaign will take place on a national scale within communes, wards and towns throughout the country.

The Ministry of Health has asked provincial and municipal governments to direct local health authorities to ensure that the campaign is conducted in an effective and safe manner so as to not waste the allocated vaccines.

As of January 24, Vietnam has received 211.9 million doses, of which 194.2 million have been allocated to hospitals and localities.

To date, Vietnam has administered nearly 179.6 million doses, including 79 million first doses, 73.9 million second doses and 26.7 million booster shots.

As of January 26, all Vietnamese people aged 18 and above, have been given at least one shot. The ratio of those with two shots is 95.7% while 22.3% have received three doses.

The vaccination rate in children aged 12-17 is 95.2% for the first dose and 86% for two doses.
