VP meets female officials of banking sector on International Women’s Day

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan hosted a reception in Hanoi on March 8, for a delegation of female officials of the banking sector, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

The meeting was also attended by Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Hong and President of the Vietnam Women’s Union Ha Thi Nga.

Speaking at the meeting, VP Vo Thi Anh Xuan gave her best wishes to female staff in the banking sector in particular and women across the country in general, on the occasion of International Women's Day.

Affirming that the role and position of Vietnamese women is increasingly being enhanced and honoured by the political and social system, the VP underscored consistent guidelines and policies on gender equality, of the Party and State throughout its history.

She also lauded the achievements made by the banking industry over the years, noting that women currently account for about 60% of the workforce at banks, and about 24.13% of the total number of management positions, and for the first time there has been a female Governor of the State Bank.

This is not only the pride of the banking industry, but also a motivation for women to become more confident, strive to rise up, and perform the tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Party and State, she added.

The Vice President also expressed her belief that in the current context, female officials and staff of the banking sector, would continue to promote the fine traditions and good qualities, and at the same time, enhance professional skills, as well as maintain the image of the professional, ethical and intellectual banking staff.
