The campaign, marking the 10th of its kind, is scheduled to be held in 46 provinces and cities nationwide until the end of July 2022 with the aim to collect about 120,000 units of blood.

The programme is jointly organised by the Central Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion, VTVCorp Joint Stock Company, the National Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, and the Red Cross Societies of 46 provinces and cities.

Five provinces and cities will mark ten consecutive years of participation in the programme, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Lam Dong. Meanwhile, Ha Giang is joining the event for the first time this year.

Speaking at the launch ceremony of Red Journey 2022, Director of the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion cum Head of the Red Journey Organising Committee Bach Quoc Khanh said that this will be the 8th time Ca Mau Province has participated in the organisation of the Red Journey and the 5th time the province has held the launch ceremony. He expressed his belief that the programme will be held successfully and spread to all areas of the country.

Khanh noted that the Red Journey has genuinely brought about many achievements and profound values for the voluntary blood donation movement in Vietnam, helping to overcome the shortage of blood every summer.

Over the past nine years, Red Journey has grown to become the largest national blood donation campaign with the participation of 57 provinces and cities across the country and the collection of more than 515,000 units of blood, demonstrating the humanity and strong pervasive power of a charitable programme for the community.
