Winners of writing contest on exemplary models honoured

Nhan Dan - Ten winners of the writing contest entitled 'New Factors in the Ho Chi Minh Era' were honoured at a ceremony in Hanoi on May 30 in the presence of National Assembly Vice Chairman, Uong Chu Luu.

The contest, which was held to respond to the 'Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh's Moral Example' movement, aimed to discover new models who have made significant contributions to the national renewal process and national construction and defence.

Over the past year since its launch, the organising board has received more than 200 entries from both professional and amateur writers nationwide,that depicted exemplary models through various topics including Party building, environment and health protection, rural development and national defence in the new era.

Major Bui Tuyet Minh with a series of three articles on the soldiers of the people's army won the first prize.

The three articles describe Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vo Trong Hai who played a key role in building the Cau Treo border post in Ha Tinh province; Major General, professor, doctor cum Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Burns, Le Nam and Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vu Duy Tuan who contributed to hunger eradication and poverty reduction for local people in Sop Cop district, Son La mountainous province.

The two second prizes went to Ham Chau and Pham Thi Thuy Nga while the three third prizes went to Nguyen Thuy Mo, Bao Tram and Vu Xuan Cuong. The organising board also presented four consolation prizes to Nguyen Gia Bao, Truong Thi Ngoc Lan, Minh Nguyet and Phan Thi Tinh.

Eighty role models featured on the entries were also honoured at the awards presentation ceremony.

The contest was held jointly by the Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication and Education, the Centre for Study, Preservation and Promotion of National Culture and the Vietnam Study Encouragement Association.
