The event, jointly organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, Nhan Dan newspaper and the Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee, was attended by Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and representatives of the Party, State, Fatherland Front Central Committee, ministries and sectors.

Speaking at the conference, Politburo member and NA Vice Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan emphasised that Vietnamese people are always proud of those who made sacrifices for national liberation, as well as others who have been contributing to national development.

She also asked ministries, agencies and localities to pay more attention to war veterans, martyrs’ families and those who rendered services to the nation, in order to help them improve their living conditions.

In her speech, MoLISA Minister, Pham Thi Hai Chuyen affirmed that the Party and State always pay great attention to people who contributed to the revolution by constantly developing and improving priority policies for war invalids, martyrs’ families, and all revolutionary contributors.

Over past years, the quality of care for national contributors has risen steadily, reaching most of its objectives for a higher social level, she said, adding that the movement demonstrates the responsibility, affection, and gratitude the Party, State and people have for those who laid down their lives for national liberation.

This year's conference honoured over 180 outstanding invalids, heroic Vietnamese mothers, and Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, as well as relatives of martyrs, revolutionary contributors from 63 cities and provinces across the country.

The conference is of great political significance on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947-2014), showing the affection, gratitude and responsibility the Party, State and people feel towards those who have made sacrifices for the fatherland's independence and freedom. The event is also a way recognising the significant contributions war invalids, martyrs' families and all revolutionary veterans have made to the country.

Also on July 18, Politburo member and National Assembly Vice Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan presented gifts to a number of policy beneficiaries in Dien Ban district, Quang Nam province.
