Speaking at the event sponsored by the American International Group (AIG), Vice Chairman of the Vietnam’s National Traffic Safety Committee, Khuat Viet Hung, noted that many parents have not been fully aware of the importance of their children wearing helmets.
He went on to stress that children wearing helmets constitutes an instant action to prevent any harm to future generation.
AIP Foundation President, Greig Craft, said the presentation aims to raise the awareness of students and the community about traffic safety. Wearing standard helmets is estimated to reduce the risk of death by 42%, he said.
CEO and General Director of AIG Vietnam, Susan E. Loftus, stressed that the handover is a part of AIG’s global initiative to "Make the World a Safer Place”. It also realises the group’s long-term commitment to join hands with Vietnamese people for traffic safety, she added.
Since it was launched in 2000, the ‘Helmets for Kids’ campaign has presented more than 500,000 helmets for children across Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries.
