Israeli Embassy helps provide free eye surgeries for patients in Thanh Hoa province

Nhan Dan Online-  The Embassy of Israel in Vietnam, together with the National Institute of Ophthalmology, will conduct an Eye Camp programme to provide free surgery for 200 cataract cases in the districts of ThoXuan and Ngoc Lac in ThanhHoa province from September 14-17 .

In addition, on September 16 the Israeli Embassy plans to visit and deliver gifts to 140 elderly people, and children with disabilities living in Social Protection Centre No.2, Thanh Hoa province. The gifts will include clothing, blankets, milk and diapers for children, and food and sweets for the elderly.

The Embassy also acted as a bridge to bring back the light in the eyes of 5 elderly cataract patients at Social Protection Center No.2. As suggested by the Embassy in its preparation trip to Thanh Hoa last week, local doctors carried out successful cataract surgeries for the patients in ThanhHoa Ophthalmology Hospital.

According to the embassy, this is just one activity in a series of its regular charity programmes. In recent years, instead of spending extravagantly on celebrations for Israel Independence Day, the Embassy of Israel in Vietnam has been using its budget to implement various humanitarian activities, with the humble view of bringing practical benefits to the community.
