Vietnam to host 18th General Assembly of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists

Nhan Dan - The 18th General Assembly of the Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) will be held in Vietnam in 2015.

The information was released at CAJ Directory Board Meeting in Hanoi on September 12.

Accordingly, the National Press Club of the Philippines will hand over the CAJ’s chair to the Vietnam Journalists' Association (VJA) for the next two-year tenure.

At the meeting, the delegates discussed important practices and strategies to intensify the CAJ operation and unite journalists in the region.

They also agreed to establish a CAJ journalism training committee, and decided Vice Chairman of the VJA Ha Minh Hue will take over as Chair of the committee.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the VJA Thuan Huu said the VJA would continue to work closely with other CAJ members for the organisation’s development, and would contribute to building a strong and united ASEAN for regional peace, security, stability, co-operation and development.

Founded in 1975, CAJ includes the journalists’ associations of Indonesia, Malaysia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam. The VJA has been a member since July, 1995.
