NA Law Committee verifies Government report on complaints settlement

Nhan Dan Online - Deputies of the National Assembly Law Committee spent the last day of the committee’s 17th plenary session on September 18 verifying the Government’s report on the settlement of complaints and denunciations in 2014.

At the session, some deputies expressed the opinion that dealing with complaints and claims of wrongdoings by State officials or management agencies showed the ability to deal with such cases remained low at all levels of the authorised agencies.

Others proposed that the Government’s report should mention the responsibility of the officials or authorised agencies in handling complaints and denunciations.

According to Chairman of the Law Committee, Phan Trung Ly, in recent years, the State and Government have amended and supplemented legal regulations with a focus on improving the mechanisms for receiving citizens, and settling complaints and denunciations.

He proposed that authorised agencies abide by the Law on Complaints and Denunciations, to restrict the rise of complaints and improve the efficiency of complaint settlement.

According the Government report, in the past year, although the number of complaints and denunciations cases has declined 9.5%, the situation remains complex, particularly cases relating to land disputes and land compensation.

The deputies suggested that more effective measures should also be focused on strengthening land management and enhancing the capacity of Government units involves in handling land disputes and land compensation cases.
