The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the VFFCC Nguyen Thien Nhan.

The donation is the contribution of the province’s officials and people during the programmes launched to protect national sovereignty over its seas and islands.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman Nhan emphasised that the donation showed the sentiments of the province’s Party, government and people towards the coast soldiers and fisheries on duty to firmly safeguard national sea and island sovereignty.

Since the VFFCC issued the official dispatch on supporting soldiers, coast guard and fishery administration in June, individuals and organisations around the country have donated nearly VND12.3 billion (US$575,025), including nearly VND11 billion (US$518,925) allocated.

The VFFCC has also co-ordinated with coast guard and fishery forces to assist local fishermen in numerous province, including Quang Ngai, Quang Nam, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa, to continue normal fishing activities.
